Oatlands Bargain Centre
Branding/Passion Project
The Oatlands Bargain Centre is a not-for-profit organisation located in the small town of Oatlands Tasmania. The biggest struggles faced within the organisation included a lack of branding, a decrease in donations (more items on consignment), and very few volunteers.
My main aim was to encourage people to donate their clothing, books, crockery and furniture, so that 100% of the money made goes back into the community (such as the local hospital), rather than putting their unwanted items on consignment. I achieved this goal with the idea of donation bins for the town so that more people are encouraged to donate their unwanted items after a clean out. Along with this, I also designed a new logo and illustrations to post on the Oatlands Bargain Centre Facebook page to update the brand and have more of an identity which is recognizable to Its followers.
Due to a lack of funds, I also created a poster design for a possible fundraiser to help the Bargain Centre raise money for the donation bins. This fundraiser will also help to get more people involved and possibly recruit some volunteers and gain a bigger following within the community.
Oatlands Bargain Centre Logo The typographical style on the new logo was made to be quirky and inviting with the use of warm colours, a handwritten feel, and with the curls coming off the ‘B’ resembling a coat hanger in reference to the bargain centre selling clothing items. The Oatlands Callington Mill is also featured in the new logo, as it was in the original. I decided to feature the Callington Mill again because of how significant it is to communities identity.
